The LIVE March 2009: A Day In Pictures

We have some great articles planned for you including an introduction to the people behind the L.I.V.E. campaign.

Before that, we wanted to share a pictorial account of the amazing day that was the L.I.V.E. march and memorial service.

As reported in the BBC hundreds of people gathered at Whitehall to take their stand against the violence that has affected communities across the UK.

The march progressed through the political heart of the UK in Westminster before making its way to South London.
Overall, supporters of the L.I.V.E. campaign walked three miles...
...accompanied by the media...
...and the Metropolitan Police who were a tremendous support in guiding our walk through central London...
Soon enough we arrived in Kennington Park where the memorial service would begin.
Once inside the park, we settled down to see the programme unfold from the main stage.
A number of mothers, fathers and other family gave us their experiences of losing loved ones to violent attacks, gun and knife crime.
There were also several artists encouraging the crowd in song...
...and thought-provoking drama...
Away from the main stage were a number of fun activities for the kids.

By the end of the day we completed a Pledge Wall featuring the handprints of young people who committed to never using their hands for violence.
The L.I.V.E. march was a a great success in highlighting that the majority of young people in our communities are not only against the violence that has affected our country but are willing to make a stand against it.

Join us as we continue this very important work and stay tuned to www.aylive.co.uk for news on ways you can get involved.
